In 1955, Shirley and Eddie Matta opened the doors to what would become a cherished part of the Brockton community. What began as a family dream grew into a lasting legacy built on a love of dance, dedication to students, and a commitment to making every dancer feel at home.
For more than seven decades, Matta Dance Academy has proudly welcomed generations of dancers through its doors. From Shirley’s founding vision to Lisa’s decades of leadership, and now to the third generation carrying that tradition forward, the heart of Matta has always remained the same.
Today, Lisa and Ashley continue to lead Matta Dance Academy together, honoring the traditions that shaped the studio while inspiring a new generation of dancers. Alongside a dedicated faculty, they strive to create an environment where students develop confidence, discipline, friendships, and a lifelong love of dance.
